He's a 17-pound terrier-poodle mix. A terri-poo if you please. I picked him up at Animal Control... a stinky, loud place, where all the dogs bark on cue when a prospective owner arrives. They're yelling, "Pick me!" My dog was in the third aisle, almost at the end, on the right. He looked pathetic- greasy and matted. He had this high-pitched whine and he stuck his paws through the fencing. Heartbreaking!

There was no information on him listed on the gate. One of the workers said he was a girl, about two years old. A couple in front of me in line took him out to play in the "Getting to Know You" yard. I watched and got to know him as well. The couple passed on him and let me take him.

In line to check out, my roommate and I named him. We tried Frannie and Lucy and a few other names. Someone in line with us said he was the typical pathetic pound puppy, like the dog from Annie. A few minutes later, we learned he was a boy. We didn't know this before because no one wanted to venture into the hind areas- he was pretty gross (furry, matted, covered in knots and unidentifiable things). At that point, we had no boy names lined up besides Sandy, so Sandy he was.

Now Sandy is clean, trimmed and happy. He runs around like an idiot when I get home... but most of the time he's lazy. I tried playing fetch with him, but I ended up running around like crazy while he sat and watched. He eventually tired and laid down to lick himself.

This would be a great place for a photo, but my camera is in Tucson right now. Maybe later.

In other news, I now work a normal shift. I'm the 4:30 p.m. producer on Good Evening Arizona. I now eat meals at the right times, sleep during the night, and drive in rush hour traffic. I love it.

I've been resisting this, but...

Hey, look who's not dead! Just in Arizona! As I was hunting around the internet this week I noticed the blogging had spread. Not just Nemo anymore. Tina, Ben, Jenny... I'll try and pull out the witty when I can but so far I'm just over-thinking things. That's it for now. Oh, the photo is from the longest bus ride ever, in case you thought to yourself "what does Karen look like these days when she's hungry, tired, and smelling of diesel fuel?" Tanya's on the left.
